As I write this, it is nearly sometime in the wee hours of Friday morning. I won’t have time later this weekend to write this, which is why I’m doing it now.

First off, life is pretty nice right now. *knocks on wood* My goal this quarter was to fill up my schedule, and what with the increased workload, extended extracurriculars, and current job/internship hunt, it’s been pretty fab. On some days, I wake up, attempt to work out, get ready for the day, and head out to my first class at nine a.m.--and don’t come back until evening. This is a stark contrast from last quarter, considering I’d go out, come back, go out, come back, go out, come back. This time around, I actually have things to do and places to go, and it’s making me feel good.

Second, I am consuming a lot of coffee. Or, at least, a lot of coffee-flavored drinks. Most of them are sugar drinks that taste vaguely like coffee. This is a pretty bad thing; actually, I had coffee twice in one day, which is unheard-of for me. I really should not make it a habit, but, unfortunately, it’s currently becoming a thing.

Third, I’m staying up late--not because I’m necessarily procrastinating, but because I actually have a lot of work. What with applications, video editing/uploading, trying to write, seeking opportunities, reading, homework, essays, etc., my sleep schedule is slowly disintegrating. This is not a good thing--I’m going to need how to figure this all out--but this is just a trend I’m noticing in my life at the moment. Definitely something I want to fix.

Fourth, I only added 500 words to my manuscript once this week thus far. This sucks, but sometimes that’s just what happens.

Fifth, the weather has been really nice.

Sixth, not everything is just work. On Sunday I went stargazing; on Monday, I hung out with some of other freshmen from my church group; on Tuesday, I got coffee with a new friend and later had the chance to meet some people at an organization meeting; on Wednesday I met up with another friend, who’s my accountability partner for my church small group; today, I had small group; this upcoming weekend, I’m staying at a church friend’s apartment, and we’re making food together! Honestly, I never realized how social I could be until I came to college, haha.

Seventh, I can’t stop listening to “Better Together” by Fifth Harmony. Why? I honestly have no idea. But it’s a fun pop song, and I love fun pop songs.

Eighth, I applied to several places, including the coffee shop located inside our library. I got a call for an interview and have one scheduled for noon. I’m super excited. I also joined a Professional Communications seminar, decided on my personal project for my internship with Cath in College, and applied to be an Orientation Leader for next year, which is something I’d never imagined myself doing but actually really want to participate in.

Ninth, today I filmed a really fun video that involved a ton of people from my building. The video’s coming out on Tuesday, and I’m super excited to edit it--I can tell it’s going to be really funny. (In case you're not aware...I make videos every week and posted this one last Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.)

Tenth, despite the tiredness, I’m thankful that I have the chance to do this, the chance to live the life I have. I was thinking earlier today that I honestly wouldn’t trade lives with anyone else in this world. I’m learning to be content where I am, and for this, I’m thankful.

What have you been up to?

Week three, coming atcha!

  1. GO RACHEL!!! Despite some of the down sides (drinking a ton of coffee and not getting enough sleep, yikes!) you’re still doing so much which is awesome. I really hope you get the coffee shop job!!!

xoxo Abigail Lennah | ups & downs

    1. Thank you so much, Abby! I hope I get it too!

  2. Yay, you go girl! Hope you get some sleep soon, and good luck with the job applications!

  3. I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU RACHEL! <3 It really sounds like you are living your life to the fullest and I give you so much credit. I get so overwhelmed when I have a lot going on but you are able to handle it with grace AND write a blog post! howdoyoudoit???????

I hope you get that coffee job and get some rest soon. <3 YOU ROCK, GIRLY!

    xx Kenzie

  4. This post made me SO HAPPY TO READ. I love that you're thriving, Rachel. <3

  5. I've been busy thinking about all the schoolwork I have to do... Thankfully I have fewer classes next week...

  6. HAPPY FOR YOU! I hope you get the job! It's so cool all of the stuff your doing. :)

  7. woooo go rachel!! i've always admired your ambition, drive, and productivity--i'm significantly lacking in that area, haha.
also, these posts and vlogs of yours have made me set high expectations for college next year; we infps actually can be social, who knew?? :)
i've enjoyed keeping up with your life, friend! good luck on all of your college endeavors!!

    1. Dude, it's so much easier to be social in college--you'll be great! :) I'm excited for you!

  8. This is fun to read! I'm about to start uni so I really enjoy this. My uni is quite famous for it's party/binge drinking culture, which I'm slightly worried about, but also I think it's going to be good so??

    1. Honestly, college is a place where you can fit in anywhere. There are so many people that you're bound to meet likeminded individuals who share your values and morals, so don't worry about it! Reputation is only a very small part of a school :) I'm sure you'll have loads of fun!
